To Faux or Not to Faux?

TO FAUX OR NOT TO FAUX? This is the question (in decorating today). If you are like me and do not have a green thumb the answer is simple, faux! If you are a gardener or botanist, my hat’s off to you! These days adding greenery is making an impression on the design scene. Noticeably, fiddle leaf floor-size plants, trailing succulents, and eucalyptus.

Bringing the outside in adds life, color, and is even known to reduce stress. Plants help create a positive outlook and have been known to make people feel more alive and active!

Of course, not every type of plant looks good faux and not every manufacturer makes authentic-looking shrubbery. Spending a bit more for a more real looking plant is worth the investment if you plan to use it for a while. Fiddle leafs, ferns, peace lily, aloe, and most succulents look great faux.

Faux flowers are another story. If your goal is to trick the eye and fool others into thinking you have fresh flowers, it is very challenging with fake flowers. On the other hand, if you are needing a pop of color, then artificial flowers are a great option! Personally, I am a big fan of sunflowers, cherry blossoms and hydrangeas.

If planning on moving, be sure to include plants in the staging design! It will make your home feel alive and welcoming. Be sure they are free of dust, used sparingly, and as realistic-looking as possible.

Lastly, don’t over do it! Use faux plants sparingly. If well placed, you won’t be tempted to add too many. To change things up, I like to switch mine out from time to time

Bottom line — high quality, realistic looking faux plants are a great addition to add life and color to home and work spaces!
