By now you’ve probably gotten some good use out of your label maker. Their smaller print and size makes them ideal for office organization, in particular file folders or containers with office supplies. From there, most graduate from a basic label maker to a Cricut. These amazing machines allow you to print labels in different fonts, sizes, images, and beyond. The labels from these fancy devices are seen all over your Pinterest feeds that feature amazingly organized pantries.
As handy and helpful as these two options are, I tend to prefer more outside of the box labeling. Here are a few of my favorites.
- Luggage tags — Snap a picture of the contents of your bin, put it where your address normally goes and then attach to the handle. This one is super helpful for toys and snacks for your little ones.
Pro tip — Change out the picture for words when your kiddo begins to read. - Laminator and Velcro — Print words or pictures of the items you plan to store then laminate and attach to the bin with velcro. This method is helpful when storing items that you’ll switch out from time to time such as your seasonal wardrobe or food in the pantry.
Pro tip — Laminators are surprisingly handy for many other things such as school, work, crafts and beyond. Definitely worth purchasing! - Chalkboard — along the same line as the Velcro method, chalkboard makes it easy to change the labels out based on the contents. These labels come as stickers, card stock, plaques and more.
Pro tip — Best used on containers you open less frequently because the chalk comes off easily. - Gift tags — The tags with ribbon and card stock make for a decorative label at a reasonable price point.
Pro tip — Shop after holiday sales for the best deals (and yes you can find them with non holiday themes).
Aside from the obvious — finding things easier — labeling is also a helpful way to reduce clutter because you don’t have to keep searching for items you already have. Labeling also helps other family members know where things go. Lastly, labels bring organization to your space thus reducing stress and saving time.
